Aarushi - The TRP gainer!Aarushi has become a household name nowadays! Every adult, every child is talking about her nowadays! Well, why not? After all, her gruesome murder has earned a household name for her. A sweet, young girl murdered inside the secured walls of her own house! Her own bedroom! Yes, this sounds terrifying! Anyone can get goose bumps after listening to her tale!

But, you know what is even more terrifying than this! It’s the everyday death that her soul has to go through on the thousand of TV channels. You flick through any channel and you get to know Aarushi’s tale told with new versions every other minute! Guess what!! Even the serials are banking on her death now! A very popular TV serial has decided to shed Aarushi’s soul to thousand pieces in front of thousand of people by including her story in their plot! The serial shows a character being murdered in the same way as Aarushi! The writer must surely get the award of ‘Most Inhuman person on earth’.

Well, this is nothing else but cheap publicity! Imagine the state of the mother whose daughter gets murdered again and again on the television channels! Be it the media houses or entertainment channels, everyone is just trying to bank on the little girl’s dead body! It seems as if Aarushi has become the greatest TRP gainer of today! Show her story on your TV channel and see the charts of your channel’s TRP going higher and higher, thereby make easy money!

But, I would just like to ask a simple question to all of us? Is this humanity? Is this right in any sense? Do you think that we are doing justice with the dead girl or the family?? Would her soul be ever able to get any peace? Are these the values that we are passing on to our children? Well, the answers to these questions have to given by us only, so that we can prepare ourselves well for the more horrifying questions to be posed by the future generations!

May God bless Aarushi’s soul!

I completely agree with whatever you have written. Have we lost our humanitarian side completely? How can somebody make episodes in a serial that has uncanny resemblance to the gruesome murder to augment its TRP ratings and get away with it just for being a big production house? As it is Balaji is infamous for venting out mindless serials, but this I feel is streching things a bit too far! We should take this as a cue and strongly protest!

Yes, unfortunate but true that Arushi has become a TRP gainer. But have we ever thought why? Maybe because people find it extremely difficult to comprehend that such a thing can happen in a normal-well-adjusted-family. Remember the father is charged with murder! Now, that is certainly not a normal-everyday occurance.

Anything to do with Arushi seems to sell like hot cakes .. And we cant blame to the tv channels for this hiccup .. We have to take some responsibility of it as well... if the viewers do not succumb to the temptation , the channels cant afford to show something which isn’t of any interest for the people.

This is a sensational murder case involving a teenaged girl inside her own bedroom when just four people were in the house that was well locked from inside and almost fortified. Out of those four people 2 are dead and the remaining 2 are her parents. Not just any other parents, but doctors who had a clientèle consisting the rich and the famous in the power corridors of N Delhi. This story by the virtue of its very nature and the kind of background it has, naturally packs all the ingredients of a blockbuster TV programme every time a new development takes place in the case.

I am happy that this time the media, though taking whatever mileage it can from this case in terms of TRPs, it has played the matter with some sensibility this time unlike in the past when we saw trials by the media itself like the Jessica Lall and the Nitish Katara murder cases.

This time, the media has not vilified the prime suspect - her father and has often showed some empathy towards them should they are not guilty. Having said this, the media has not clearly said that they are NOT the culprits. Hence, it has shown some maturity here and had been generally balanced.

The media is doing what it has to if it has to remain viable. Media is a big business. But there is no shame on carrying out the news on a daily basis updating the events as they unfold minute by minute to the viewers who want to know what the truth is. Without the media watching constantly a lot of things would have been swept beneath the carpet as it happened so many times in this corrupt country.

Yes, it might sound sad but actually media is simply pandering to the demands. They are showing what we want to see. It is perfectly democratic, so to speak. So, the television screen is the reflection of our voyeuristic psyche. What are we complaining about? We all want to hear about the case out of sheer curiosity. It’s empathy on one side, and voyeurism on the other.
Personally, I have no complaints about the media coverage of Aarushi case.
The truth, whatever it is, is more important that anything else. If it is murky, so be it. Media cannot shirk the responsibility of disclosing the truth simply because it’s not palatable.

Yes! the media have taken the role of policeman and judge. It is sad that today we have a bunch of people who have degrees in journalism probably, but no commonsense or any real idea about what real journalism is. Already, many people have been influenced by the media into believing that Talwar is the killer.

The reason this murder case has got so famous is because it is mysterious. The wife says her husband is innocent. The police suspect the father did it.

It has grabbed the nation’s interest because if the father did kill Aarushi then it shows the moral degeneration of the Indian middle class.
